1. Shipmates

Shipmates is performed as a duet on Frameworks.  It’s titling is in deference to the tune Stablemates by Benny Golson.  Like Stablemates, the A sections of the form are 14 bars in length.  The song’s title also alludes to The Fellowship Band.  In short, it is a tune in appreciation of long term friendships and musical collaboration.

One of my favorites from the album, it features Adrian Ruiz as pianist. The second volume of Blueprints has the tune recorded as a sextet with the soaring soprano saxophone of Brice Winston.
